The Townsville University Hospital Pediatric Annex

This project is part of a series of capital infrastructure projects with a capital value of approximately $28M delivered at The Townsville University Hospital (TUH) (formerly The Townsville Hospital).  Stage one design of the single storey annex building was of a low key non-clinical character, with stage two upgrades comprising demolition and reuse of 700m2 of existing multi-bed wards together with their core support areas into a combination of single and two bed accommodation.

In all, five stages of work were delivered as part of this package.

This project was delivered around an operational hospital environment.

Significant consideration was given to constructability with a thorough investigation and audit required at the start of the project to accurately identify existing services and structure that may impact on the new design.   An in-depth understanding of the existing functionality and systems in place at the TUH was required to ensure that the project would successfully integrate with the existing.
