The Mater Women and Children’s Hospital provides a high quality, flexible, robust design that contributes to the suite of buildings and vocabulary of the precinct.
The design won the Australian Institute of Architecture Regional Award for Architecture in North Queensland. Not only is the architecture of a high calibre the large roof overhangs and covered areas provide a public arcade to new and existing shop fronts. From the words of the judges – “the building is clearly thought through and is well suited to the rigours of a regional hospital”.
As the civil and structural consulting engineers for this project we are immensely proud of the final outcome.
