Located in the heart of James Cook University is the JCU verandah walk. This project recieved a national award from the Australian Institute of Landscaping Architects in 2019 and also recieved the Master Builders North Queensland award winning Tourism and Leisure Facilities up to $10M.
The curved walkway which weaves through the campus provides seating areas and gathering spaces that encourage students, staff and visitors to socialise in the open-air landscaped setting. The experience creates a sense of quality, tranquillity and tropical ambience which is increased due to the shade, colour selection and water inclusions. LCJ Engineers is pleased to have been part of this project as the civil and structural consulting engineers.
